Alpha-GPC — timing, dose & interactions

Choline source that supplies the building blocks of acetylcholine. In a 12-week Korean trial in mild cognitive impairment it improved a cognitive score more than placebo. But a 10-year Korean national cohort linked alpha-GPC use to a higher stroke risk that rose with dose — an observational finding that needs confirming.

Also known as: Choline alfoscerate, L-alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine

FAQ

Common questions

When is the best time to take Alpha-GPC?

On waking / Breakfast. Earlier in the day; larger amounts are often split into two or three doses.

Should Alpha-GPC be taken with food?

It can be taken with or without food. Earlier in the day; larger amounts are often split into two or three doses.

Can you take Alpha-GPC with Citicoline?

No need to take both — they supply choline for the same purpose, and the pair hasn't been studied. Pick one. Given the stroke signal seen with alpha-GPC in a large cohort, citicoline is the more conservative choice.
