Lutein & Zeaxanthin — timing, dose & interactions
Carotenoids that concentrate in the macula of the eye. In the AREDS2 trial, adding lutein and zeaxanthin to the eye-vitamin formula didn't reduce progression to advanced macular degeneration overall, but they now replace beta-carotene, which was linked to more lung cancers in former smokers.
