Pterostilbene + Resveratrol
Can you take Pterostilbene and Resveratrol together?
NoteMechanism-based
No need to take both — they're chemically similar, and the pair hasn't been studied.
What to do. Pick one. If you choose pterostilbene and track your cholesterol, recheck LDL after a couple of months.
Mechanism
Two closely related stilbenes
Pterostilbene is a methylated form of resveratrol and acts on many of the same targets. No study shows added benefit from combining them, and pterostilbene alone raised LDL cholesterol in a randomized trial.
Evidence: Mechanism-based — Plausible biological mechanism with little direct human outcome data.
