Longevity
Resveratrol — timing, dose & interactions
Polyphenol from grapes and knotweed studied as a sirtuin activator. Oral bioavailability is very low because it is rapidly metabolized.
Timing
When to take it
Take with a fat-containing meal (e.g. yogurt or olive oil) — it is poorly water-soluble.
Interactions
Resveratrol with other supplements
Safety
Medications & health conditions
Resveratrol may inhibit platelets. Resveratrol inhibits platelet aggregation in lab studies, which could add to the effect of blood thinners.
Antioxidants may interfere with cancer treatment. Some chemotherapy and radiation work partly through oxidative damage; high-dose antioxidants could reduce their effect. Discuss every supplement with your oncology team.
Resveratrol: no safety data in pregnancy. Resveratrol has not been studied for safety in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid unless your clinician recommends it.
Resveratrol may affect bleeding. Consider pausing before surgery and tell your surgeon.

FAQ
Common questions
When is the best time to take Resveratrol?
Breakfast. Take with a fat-containing meal (e.g. yogurt or olive oil) — it is poorly water-soluble.
Should Resveratrol be taken with food?
Yes. It is fat-soluble, so take it with a meal that contains some fat.
Can you take Resveratrol with Piperine?
Probably yes — though the evidence comes from mice. Optional. Same drug-interaction caveat as piperine with curcumin.
Can you take Resveratrol with NMN?
Yes, they are safe to combine as far as we know — but the synergy is a hypothesis. Fine to combine. Take resveratrol with a fat-containing meal; NMN timing is flexible.
Can you take Resveratrol with Nicotinamide Riboside (NR)?
Fine to combine; the synergy remains a hypothesis. Take resveratrol with a fat-containing meal; NR timing is flexible.
