Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) + TMG (Betaine)
Can you take Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) and TMG (Betaine) together?
Yes, they can be taken together — but the reason for pairing them is a theory, not a tested benefit.
What to do. Optional. If you add TMG, take it with breakfast alongside NR. Consider it more seriously if your homocysteine is high — a blood test can tell you.
Mechanism
The methyl-donor theory behind NR + TMG
Like NMN, NR releases nicotinamide, which is cleared by methylation. A single 300 mg dose of nicotinamide lowered plasma betaine and raised homocysteine for a few hours in a small human study. TMG donates methyl groups; the pair has not been tested together.
Evidence: Mechanism-based — Plausible biological mechanism with little direct human outcome data.
